The first National Tea Party Convention in Nashville, Tennessee concluded on Saturday night with a ringing affirmation of the nation’s founding principles and a commitment to the support of candidates who uphold these principles, regardless of party. These people are worthy of our thanks as they have stepped forward to say that our country is in need of a return to the founding principles that made us great. They have moved beyond sign waving and slogans and have planted the flag of political liberty for patriots to rally around.
It is significant that this first National Tea Party Convention was conducted in the 5th district of Tennessee. It is significant because this district, above many others in the country, is ready to break out in glorious revolution. The principles espoused by NTPC (fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, less government, states’ rights and national security) ring true to the patriots across the U.S. who understand their “common sense” foundation.
These principles are not new to us. At http://www.HartlineForCongress.com, you will find these same principles espoused. As the candidate, I have advocated them ever since my first vote for Ronald Reagan in 1980. My American History teaching experience along with my intense reading of the lives of the Founders has intensified my confidence in their wisdom. I salute the NTPC and its intent to bring about a revival of a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
