For the Republicans, the “anointed” candidate in Kentucky got his hat handed to him by Rand Paul, an Ophthalmologist from Bowling Green. Mitch McConnell, John Boehner and the entire national GOP apparatus got big time egg on their face as the upstart Paul made his case to the voters, and they listened. It should not be lost on anyone that a physician won this Primary.
In Pennsylvania, Democrat turned Republican turned Democrat Arlen Specter went down in flames to Joe Sestak in that Primary race. Specter will go home without winning a sixth term (36 years in the Senate???) and the Democrats will pick up the pieces and hope they can turn back the Conservative Pat Toomey, who could not get the National GOP to pay attention to him during the last Republican Primary against…Arlen Specter. How did that strategy work out for us?
Once again, the voters have sounded off loud and clear. The thunder of their voices is continuing to resonate all across the country, regardless of party. Wait. Can you hear it? I hear the same roar approaching the Davidson County line.
